Find the cause. Free the horse.

I’ll guide you step by step to find the cause, bring relief, and release a happy, healthy horse.

When you’ve tried it all… but your horse is still headshaking 😔

You’ve tried everything. Every supplement, different feed, every little tack adjustment. You’ve watched your horse endlessly, observing every flick of the head, every subtle shake, every little sign… trying to piece together a pattern that never seems to exist.

You experiment. You hope. You change one thing, then another. Sometimes it seems to work… but just as quickly, it doesn’t. You find yourself second-guessing everything: maybe it’s the sun, maybe it’s the wind, maybe it’s an allergy… maybe it’s nothing at all.

And the advice? Don’t even get me started. One source says antihistamines is the answer. Another says never give your horse antihistamines. One person swears by a certain supplement, while someone else says it makes things worse. Every tip contradicts the last, leaving you more confused, more frustrated, and more exhausted.

You just want your horse to be comfortable. You want clarity. You want relief. But it feels like every answer leads to ten more questions.

What if I told you that you don’t have to keep guessing and trying everything… but that there’s a different way to discover what’s really causing your horse’s headshaking?

Been there, done that!

It was back in 2015 when I first encountered a headshaking horse through one of my clients. As a therapist, I couldn’t stand seeing this horse struggle and not being able to treat it effectively. That frustration sparked my fascination with these mysterious complaints and set me on a path to understand them fully.

Not long after, I bought a project mare who also turned out to be a headshaker, something I hadn’t really been looking for. I thought it might be an allergy, but it turned out to be something else entirely. Within six months, I was able to help her become completely symptom-free, a state she remained in for the rest of her life.

As more and more owners reached out with their own headshakers, I embarked on the journey with each horse, exploring what worked and what didn’t. Over time, I discovered that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Each horse’s cause is different, and what helps one horse may do nothing for another.

Trying random solutions isn’t the answer. But there is a way to approach it step by step, to uncover the cause for your horse, and to move toward a solution that really works.

"My horse suddenly started headshaking, probably due to an accident in the pasture. After countless vet visits, dental check-ups, and osteopath sessions, I finally found Janneke. I followed the Headshaking Guide, where you learn so many valuable things you can immediately apply with your horse. This really helped my horse feel more comfortable during the moments he struggled the most.

Janneke has also visited my horse at home twice, helping him directly. She is incredibly knowledgeable and truly understands the horse’s body. She has a real passion for horses, takes plenty of time during treatments, and explains everything so clearly that even a non-horse person can understand. My horse was finally able to relax during the sessions. Truly amazing. The results are incredible; you get a completely different horse in the best possible way. I highly recommend it, even for horses that aren’t headshakers."

"In May, my horse suddenly started headshaking. I didn’t know what was happening. First, I had everything checked at the clinic to rule out serious issues. I also searched online for anything that could help my horse, and that’s how I found Janneke. She was my last hope and wanted to do everything possible to help my horse live a normal, comfortable life again.

I started with the Headshaking Guide, and what a fantastic program it is. You learn so much about headshaking, the different forms, and how to help your horse yourself with massage techniques. Thanks to this program, my horse is now completely headshake-free. It’s a clear program that anyone can learn, but you have to start from the beginning. Janneke also offers extra support, which I’m incredibly grateful for. I look forward to continuing to develop my skills so my horse can live his best life. Thank you, Janneke, for everything you’ve taught me."

"At the end of 2021, I realized my 28-year-old mare might be suffering from headaches. Her extreme restlessness, flight behavior, and constant headshaking made me suspect something was wrong. On sunny days it was even worse. I had grown accustomed to it, but I knew it couldn’t continue like this.

Luckily, we soon came across Janneke. First through her Headshaking Guide, an amazing tool to understand the causes and triggers. This was later confirmed by Janneke’s Headshaking Scan, which showed the issue was related to her eyes, giving us a starting point for improvement.

Janneke began a specific treatment plan, and after just three sessions, we noticed a positive effect. Now Lyra is completely back to herself. Thank you, Janneke, for all your knowledge and expertise."
