At first, you thought it was just a fly, or a little pollen.
A tiny twitch here, a small shake there. Nothing to worry about.
But then it kept coming back.
More often. Stronger. And suddenly, your horse didn’t seem comfortable anymore.
Every time it happened, something twisted in your stomach.
You hated seeing your horse like this: tense, uncomfortable, almost as if tiny electric shocks were running through his head.
You tried everything you could think of. Vets, tests, special masks, supplements, therapists.
And still… nothing seemed to make a real difference.
Now you’re left wondering: what do you do next?

You keep asking yourself, Will it ever get better? Every time your horse shakes their head or seems uncomfortable, the worry creeps in: Can I really help? You see them struggling, and it hurts. You want nothing more than to make life easier for them, to see them move freely, eat peacefully, and feel happy again. But how? The uncertainty weighs on you.
You’ve tried to work out what’s best. Should you let your horse rest or keep training? Which triggers really matter: pollen, wind, sunlight, or something else? What steps are actually helpful, and in what order? Every choice feels important, and every decision comes with doubt. You want to do the right thing, the thing that truly helps your horse, but the way forward isn’t clear.
You wish you could know what might help your horse feel better. More than anything, you want them to be free from the tics, discomfort, and frustration. You want to see them happy again. But right now, it feels impossible to know where to start.
You may not have a clear idea what’s causing your horse’s symptoms. And honestly, finding the cause may not have felt like the priority when all you wanted was for the headshaking to stop. Your focus has been on easing the symptoms, while still wondering what might be causing them.
You can’t see a clear trigger, and it feels impossible to predict when your horse will struggle next. You’ve tried so many things, but the results haven’t given you the progress or confidence you hoped for. You may have hoped your vet would find a clear medical cause or solution, but so far, you’re still searching for answers.
It’s incredibly frustrating. And here’s something worth considering: if you keep using the same approach, it may be difficult to get a different result.
The good news is that things don’t have to stay this way. A different approach can begin with understanding what may be going on with your horse and why the symptoms keep appearing. Once you have a clearer picture, the next step can feel more manageable.
And the best part is, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I’ll guide you through the process so you can better understand what your horse may need and explore practical changes that could help. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to work everything out at once.
Keep reading to see how we can take that first step together and start working towards meaningful change for your horse.

Imagine not having to keep searching for the next thing to try, only to be disappointed again and again. No more sleepless nights or watching your horse struggle while feeling powerless. Finally, you can start taking real steps to help your horse feel better and regain his health.
You don’t have to do it all at once. Finding the right approach for your horse works best one step at a time. Step by step, you can start seeing changes, reduce the tics, ease the discomfort, and help your horse become more relaxed, strong, and fit.
You are not alone. Many owners have been where you are. They have tried medications, masks, therapies, and vet visits, sometimes even expensive procedures that seemed to help for a while, only to end up back at square one. It is exhausting and frustrating, but it is not your fault.
Most attempts focus on temporarily relieving symptoms, which is why nothing has worked long term. Real progress comes from addressing the root causes and taking steps that truly help your horse.
Now you don’t have to face this alone. Let’s take the first step together and start moving toward a horse that is healthy, strong, and relaxed, a true Happy Athlete who can enjoy life again.
These are the experiences of horse owners who, just like you, felt desperate about their horse’s headshaking syndrome and finally began to see results with the Headshaking Guide.
"I’m Starting to Get My Horse Back"
Thanks to the Headshaking Guide, I understand my horse so much better, and I feel hopeful about the future again.
His situation was very complex, with several challenges beyond headshaking. But we’re already seeing so many positive changes in his body, and that’s where it all begins.
Janneke has helped me look beyond his headshaking. She’s helped him feel better in his body and become happier. Jolien recently came to see him too, and after that visit, I felt even more hopeful that things can get better.
I’ll keep practising the massage techniques and following Janneke’s treatment advice. In a year, I believe he’ll be a completely different horse. Or rather, I hope to have my own horse back again!

"Enormous Progress"
I’m so glad I took the step and joined the Headshaking Programme. It’s such a relief to finally understand what can truly help your horse.
There’s a wealth of information waiting for you, with clear, helpful videos that have taught me so much. I’d never tried different massage techniques with my horses before, so it’s been fascinating to find a new way to work with them.
I’m delighted to see my horse making such great progress, and, above all, to feel hopeful again. Before I found Janneke, everything felt hopeless. I was close to saying goodbye, and now I’m back to training and enjoying my horse again.
We’re not there yet, but the progress so far has been incredible!

"More Than I Expected, and Already Making a Difference"
At first, I honestly thought, “Here we go again, spending a lot of money for nothing.” But I’ve been positively surprised.
My horse, Harley, responds really well to the massage and acupressure techniques, and the step-by-step method works well for owners too. It helps you avoid rushing ahead and instead gives you time to consider each theory carefully and see how it applies to your horse.
I also think this course helps you become more self-reliant as an owner. All in all, I’m really glad I joined!

"Enormous Help for My Pony"
My pony, Moonlight, is three years old. She had no problems until she was two, when she bumped her head hard a few times. At first, she only shook her head occasionally, but it gradually got worse. Eventually, even leading her in a halter became difficult because I was afraid of getting hurt.
I had a feeling something wasn’t right. I’d heard of headshaking, but had never dealt with it before. So I started searching online and found Janneke. After reading the information on her website and following her on Instagram and Facebook, I decided to join the Headshaking Guide.
I’m so glad I did. The information helped me understand headshaking much more clearly, and the programme gives you a step-by-step approach, starting with the basics. It gave us so many new insights and has helped us enormously.
Thank you, Janneke!

"My Horse Is Headshake-Free"
In May, my horse suddenly started headshaking. I had no idea what was happening. First, I had him thoroughly checked at the clinic to rule out anything serious. At the same time, I searched online to see if there was anything else I could do to help him.
That’s how I found Janneke. She felt like my last hope. I was willing to try anything to help my horse have a good quality of life again.
I started the Headshaking Guide, and what a fantastic programme it is. You learn so much about headshaking and its different forms, as well as ways to help your own horse using massage techniques.
Since following the programme, my horse has become headshake-free. The lessons are clear and easy to follow, and anyone can learn from them, as long as they start at the beginning. Janneke also gives me extra support, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
I hope to keep learning and developing so my horse can enjoy the best life possible. Thank you, Janneke, for everything you’ve taught me.

"Finding Hope and Trust Again"
Before joining the programme, I felt a little left to cope on my own. Was I really supposed to figure this out by myself?
The Headshaking Guide felt like a warm, supportive place where I could share my story and receive thoughtful guidance. The clear explanations gave me so much peace of mind, but most importantly, they helped me feel hopeful for my horse again.
His symptoms have gone from a 9 out of 10 to a 4 since I started using the massage techniques, and I still have the most important steps ahead of me. I trust again that things can get better.
Thank you, Janneke.

Discover the steps that can truly help your horse move forward.

My sweet gelding kept shaking his head uncontrollably. At times, his tics became so severe that he almost seemed to lose control of his body. Those moments were awful to watch.
At first, I took him to a clinic, where he was examined and had imaging done. We were eventually sent home with medication, but it only made him drowsy, and sadly, it didn’t reduce the headshaking.
I also tried several other things, including supplements, nose nets and treatments, but nothing helped.
Through a personal recommendation, I found Janneke, who suggested I join the Headshaking Guide. At first, I wasn’t very enthusiastic about following a programme. I would have preferred for her to come and help my horse directly.
Now I’m so glad I took that step. One insight after another started to click into place, and I began to understand so much more.
I had never massaged my horse before, but with the help of the videos and explanations, I gave it a try. At first, he found it strange, but soon he started yawning so much. Each week, his symptoms became less severe, and sometimes another symptom disappeared altogether.
By the end, his symptoms were minimal. To be on the safe side, I asked Janneke to come and see him once more after I completed the programme. He has now been doing well for six months, without any problems. I have my sweet gelding back!

"No Longer a Headshaker"
First, I want to thank you for the insights you’ve given us. Thanks to you, we started looking beyond a pollen allergy, and we’ve already been able to do so much for our pony. We can no longer call her a headshaker.
We’ve only recently started, but releasing tension in her neck has already stopped the headshaking. We’ve just begun massaging her head, too.

"Symptom-Free"
I started the course, and the clear explanations, step-by-step guidance through the e-book and diary, and the videos helped me understand our horse’s problem more and more.
I began using the massage techniques Janneke demonstrates in her very clear videos. Combined with treatment from Janneke, they helped our horse become symptom-free!
I believe every horse owner should know about the Headshaking Guide.

"So Much Progress"
I’m so glad Janneke came into my life. At first, I wondered where to begin and whether I could do it, because I had no idea what I was doing.
My horse has improved so much since we started. She’s gradually becoming more like herself again, which means she’s experiencing less pain.
We still have a few final steps to take, but I feel confident that she’ll be able to return to work as a sport horse. I’m looking forward to enjoying many more happy moments together.

While researching headshaking syndrome, I soon discovered that it can take several different forms. That does not necessarily make finding the right approach any easier. But you are not someone who simply gives up.
Over the years, I’ve assessed hundreds of horses and developed a step-by-step approach to uncovering what may be at the root of their symptoms. What makes this work so individual is that every horse is different. It takes an owner who is willing to take action and work through the steps.
Once you understand how the underlying cause may be contributing to your horse’s symptoms, finding a way forward becomes much clearer. In my experience, many horses can be helped with an approach that suits them, especially when their owners are willing to make thoughtful choices and take their horse’s needs seriously.
